Unsteady Flow Analysis

Tale Of The Tool
This tool analyzes the time it takes to transfer liquids between two tanks via gravity—as defined by the two cases presented below. Not to limit its potential, it can also be used as a design tool in testing the impact of the various design factors on the transfer rate between the tanks. The analysis assumes the tanks sit on the same level.

This analysis calculates the time required for two storage tanks to equalize their liquid levels through gravity-driven transfer. When fixed losses are present, it instead determines the time needed to reach the achievable equilibrium levels between the tanks.

This analysis calculates the time required to raise the liquid level in one tank by a specified amount through gravity-fed transfer from another. When fixed losses are present, it instead determines the time needed to reach the achievable equilibrium level--if lower than that of the targeted value.
